Although I became serious about photography in 2001, my fascination with pictures and printed images started in my early childhood. I recall being so taken by photographs in magazines and newspapers, that I would tear the page out and take them with me. I still do this today.
I am inspired by nature and human nature, and believe that a photograph, even in the digital world, is really a splice of time that lasts forever; first on the paper it's printed, second, in the mind and heart of the viewer. For the most part, I create within the viewfinder, and only make changes to the final print with basic cropping burning or dodging. I do have a growing interest in abstract forms, and sometimes take a basic image and make it more surreal or interesting by manipulating it with image software. I work with both film and digital cameras and would best describe my style as one of photojournalistic simplicity.
There are no pictures of me prior to the age of 16, and in many ways, I feel as though a part of me is missing. If I can help someone else to capture and preserve their living memories from birth and beyond, it would be my greatest joy. My goal as a photographer is to dedicate myself to creating memorable images that will last well beyond my lifetime.
